Martin Nissen is the head of the reader services of Heidelberg University and subject specialist for History, Music and Classical Philology.

After studying History, German and English Literature at universities in Freiburg and Dublin, Martin Nissen worked as a research assistant at the Department of History at Humboldt University in Berlin. He wrote his dissertation about popular history books in the 19th century, the forerunners of today’s historical non-fiction books. After working for the KG Saur publishing house in Munich, he started as a scientific librarian at the University Library in Heidelberg in October 2010.
